MLS Cup Final
MLS Cup 2016 was the 21st edition of MLS Cup, the championship game of Major League Soccer (MLS) and took place on December 10, 2016, at BMO Field marking the second time Toronto hosted the final with the last occasion being 2010. The Seattle Sounders won the cup over our own Toronto FC after a penalty shoot-out that followed a 0–0 draw. The final hosted many firsts. Toronto FC became the first Canadian club to ever contest in an MLS Cup. The encounter also marked the first time the game was contested between two expansion teams, with Toronto entering MLS competition in 2007, and Seattle in 2009.
The 2016 MLS Cup became the first final in league history to end scoreless. The occasion was marked with a party like atmosphere with the Toronto FC fans not disappointing with their enthusiastic support of our home team. Sword were again on hand to secure this high profile event providing in excess of 150 security and event service personnel to MLSE and being directly contracted by MLS to secure the VIP gala dinner in the Queen Elizabeth building at Exhibition Place.
